Scope and Content
This collection contains the papers from the Society of the Sons of the Revolution in the state of Maryland between 1890 and 2007. The collection has been divided into 4 series: Applications for Membership, 1892-present; Annual reports and Meeting Minutes, 1892-2007; Secretary’s Papers, 1903-1923; and Publications, 1973-2004.
The first series, Applications for Membership, have simply been arranged alphabetically by applicants last name. A corresponding index card file in a wooden box also is on the shelf with the collection. The second series, Annual reports, consists of a chronological arrangement of all material relating to meetings from 1892-present. The Secretary’s papers from 1903-1923 contain a mixture of miscellaneous files and correspondence pertaining to the work of the Society. Rather then separate out by type of document, the original chronological order was preserved. The last series contains publication and miscellaneous reports collected and compiled by the Society.
