Scope and Contents
Included in this collection are military papers of Lt. George Buchanan Redwood (1888-1918). Redwood, a Harvard graduate (1910) and newspaper reported and editor for the Baltimore News, served with the American Expeditionary Force in France in World War I. He was cited twice for bravery, and received the Croix de Guerre and a Distinguished Service Medal. He was killed in action in May, 1918.
Redwood's papers (1913-1918) contain correspondence relating to his military training and service, and include orders, memoranda, and notices. Also included are memorandum books; notes on field tactics; diaries; maps of French terrain and troop positions; documents concerning his deeds and medals; and miscellaneous souvenirs such as postcards, tickets and menus.
