The Historic Girl: Toy Making Workshop with FullBlast STEAM   

Registration is Full!

Let’s make toys! Our friends from FullBlast STEAM will bring their maker technology here to us to design, create and program working robots for an obstacle course and competition. You don’t want to miss this STEAM event!

Girl Scout Daisies, Brownies, Juniors and Cadettes will work on fulfilling their Robotics badges through participation in this program. This program will fulfill the Science & Technology-Robotics Badge for Frontier Girls. All scouting levels welcome.

School's Out/History is In: Storytelling Traditions with Scotti Preston

With the help of a living history interpreter, Scotti Preston, scouts will be immersed into the traditions of African American folktales. Scouts will examine the power of words and imagination while learning how slaves used storytelling as a connection to their cultural heritage and to communicate their hopes and fears. 

Girl Scout Juniors will work on fulfilling their Scribe Badge through participation in this program. This program will fulfill the Discover Art-Storytelling Badge for Frontier Girls. All scouting levels welcome.

Pre-registration required-Open to all Youth & Family audiences

In Olden Times: Then and Now     

Look at children's lives and experiences in the past! Using artifacts and costumes, scouts will explore work activities, examine playtime and family life and compare a day at school in the late 1800s with their classroom today. Play games, read a diary from a schoolgirl in the 1890s and see objects from a schoolroom. Maryland Historical Society patch available in the museum store for $2.00 each. Fullfills Playing the Past badge!

Colonial Maryland   

Scouts will explore what Maryland was like before the colonists arrived in 1634, why colonists risked everything to come to the Province of Maryland and their relationship with the native Algonquian. Through the use of primary sources, scouts will examine typical objects colonists needed to bring to the New World and have the opportunity to pack their own trunk. Scouts will also learn about colonial candlemaking and make their own colonial candles to take home! Maryland Historical Society patch available  for $2.00 each. Helps to fullfill activities for the Maryland Hertitage Patch!

Created Equal       

Trace the strides that African Americans made in achieving equal rights and treatment from the Colonial Period to the present. Maryland Historical Society patch available  for $2.00 each.
