Our Home, Our Stories, Our History: Preserving the Baltimore Uprising

FREE EVENT: Please Join us on April 10 from 5:30 to 8:30 at the Maryland Historical Society to celebrate a yearlong effort by Baltimore City culture workers and students to collect and preserve stories about their city. The evening’s program will include the screening of a short documentary produced by the Imaging Research Center at UMBC, in collaboration with Denise Griffin Johnson, a presentation by guest artist Danielle Drakes, star of Rep Stage’s recent production of Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 by Anna Deveare Smith.

See the premiere of a short documentary produced by the Imaging Research Center at UMBC, in collaboration with Denise Griffin Johnson, Cultural Agent, USDAC, CultureWorks. Enjoy  a presentation by guest artist Danielle Drakes, star of Rep Stage’s recent production of Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 by Anna Deveare Smith. There will also be presentations and a dialogue with Baltimore City High School Students who have gathered stories for the permanent collection, Preserve the Baltimore Uprising.

Dinner will be served. This event is free and open to the public, but space is limited. This program was created through a partnership between the UMBC Department of History and the Maryland Historical Society with generous support from the Whiting Foundation.
