Free Public Tour: Voyage of the Deutschland Exhibition

Join us for a docent-led tour of the Voyage of the Deutschland exhibition. In July 1916 at the height of WWI, a German submarine slipped through the British blockade of Germany, crossed the Atlantic, entered the Chesapeake Bay, and docked in Baltimore harbor. This exhibit highlights submarine Deutschland's epic journey to Baltimore.

In July 1916 at the height of WWI, a German submarine slipped through the British blockade of Germany, crossed the Atlantic, entered the Chesapeake Bay, and docked in Baltimore harbor. This exhibit highlights submarine "Deutschland"'s epic journey to Baltimore and also answers the following questions:
* Why did the "Deutschland" travel to America? Why Baltimore?
* What was the reaction of the people of Baltimore to this German sub's arrival?
* What factors worked against the goals of the "Deutschland"'s mission?
* What happened to the "Deutschland" after its historic voyage to Baltimore
