The Great Baltimore Fire of 1904 was a momentous event that reshaped the urban landscape of the city. We will track the course of the fire over the 31 hours it raged, examine first-hand accounts and photographs of the aftermath, and see how city planning and firefighting methods changed as a result of this catastrophe.

Homeschool Programs at the Maryland Historical Society are interactive experiences for ages 5 - 18. We will learn about Maryland's history using primary sources, hands-on activities, and crafts. Participants are grouped by age and activities are adjusted for the different age ranges.

Families are welcome to accompany registered students, with full access to our research library and museum, at no additional cost.

Program Details:

Length: 3 Hours (A 30 minute lunch/ snack break is built into each program)

Cost: Programs are $10 per student (Please note: Pre-payment for Special Programs is now required. See registration form for more details)

Accessibility: We are handicap accessible and limited free parking is available

The Maryland Historical Society occasionally uses photography and videography to capture our visitors enjoying our exhibitions, programs, and events.  Your visitation of the Museum and/or attendance at programs or events grants the Society permission to use images in which you appear in publications and media.
