Description

Black sample book of black silk swatches sold by Hutzler Brothers Company, Baltimore, Maryland. The book was owned by women's tailor and Hutzler's employee Julius M. Griesz (1865-1938). He emigrated from Germany to Baltimore in 1892 and lived on Schroeder Street. These books were distributed by Hutzler's through their partnership with C. J. Bonnet, a silk manufacturer in France. By the early 20th century, Bonnet established an office in New York City.
