Research Services

The staff (including trained volunteers) of the library will undertake research for a fee for patrons who are unable to visit the library.

FEES

Fees are payable in advance. We accept checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover or money orders. The charge for research is $40/hour for members of MdHS and $50/hour for non-members. The minimum time is one hour. If the staff is unable to finish the research in the time allotted, you will be informed of where the research stands and asked if you wish to pay for more research. Please also be aware that research is not always successful. Despite diligent efforts by the staff, the information you seek simply may not be available. No refunds will be made.

Please include the following information:

GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH

For a genealogical research request, please specify:

1) what information you desire (be as specific as possible)

2) what you already know about the person or people to help with identification

3) what sources you have already used

BUILDING RESEARCH

For a building research request, please specify:

1) what information you desire (be as specific as possible)

2) as much as you can about the building (address, city, date of construction, etc.)

3) what sources you have already used

LOCAL HISTORY RESEARCH

For a local history research request, please specify:

1) what information you desire (be as specific as possible)

2) what you already know about the topic (time period, geographic location, names of people, etc.)

3) what sources you have already used

4) what specific sources, if any, that you want searched
