The sharing of ideas, food, and goods are neighborly experiences of today as in the 19th century. At the time this quilt was made, Catherine lived near Sarah Woolford in Dorchester County. Several of the calico fabrics in Catherine's postage-stamp inner border match those in a mathematical star quilt sewn by her neighbor Sarah. Likely they shared fabrics and design ideas. |
