Digging Deeper


The spray of lilies near the middle of Elizabeth Clark's quilt appears on a number of Baltimore quilts made at this time. The fabric must have been a popular import. You can see the same lily design in this Maryland Historical Society quilt that we believe was made by Mrs. William Shannon in the 1830s.
