BALTIMORE ALBUM QUILT

Quilters in the Baltimore album quilt style emulated the beauty and refinement of the earlier 19th -century quilts. Quilt squares often were signed or inscribed with messages intended for the receiver. In many cases these quilts celebrated an event- a marriage, a leave-taking or a coming of age.
