Elizabeth Clark received a silver medal for this bedcover as the "best specimen in needlework" at the Baltimore County Agricultural Society Fair in 1843. Women received high acclaim for their quilts displayed at agricultural and mechanics fairs and public exhibitions in the mid-19th century.
