Original Star Spangled Banner Manuscript Leaves Baltimore for the First Time on March 1st and 2nd

Baltimore Md.- February 27, 2011 -The Maryland Historical Society (MdHS) is loaning the priceless original manuscript of the Star Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key to the National Anthem Celebration Foundation on Tuesday, March 1 for an event in Annapolis.  The following day the document will be lent to the National Park Service at Fort McHenry for three months. The document has never before been out of Baltimore.

The History of Hot Chocolate in Maryland Topic of Maryland Historical Society Lecture On February 3rd

Baltimore, MD- (Jan. 28, 2011)- The Maryland Historical Society (MdHS) presents its first lecture of 2011 with “Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate –the history and demonstration of chocolate from bean to drink and the silver implements used.”  The event will take place Thursday February 3rd at 6 pm at MdHS, 201 W. Monument St., Baltimore, MD in France Hall. A reception will follow the talk. MdHS members pay $35; non-members pay $50, which includes an annual membership.
