The images in this project are drawn from the collections of the Maryland Historical Society Library, or are the creation of John Riggs Orrick, a Baltimore architect and a volunteer in the MdHS Library who is also a gifted photographer. The text was written by Mr. Orrick, in collaboration
with the Society's Reference Librarian, Francis P. O’Neill, drawing on the Library’s extensive holdings of published and unpublished materials, most notably the Passano Historical Structures Index and the Baltimore City Directories from the 19th and 20th centuries.
