Log of the ship Narragansett from her departure from Providence, Rhode
Island, 1849, on a voyage to Savannah, New York, Liverpool, Cardiff, and
returning to Baltimore. John Burgess was master of the ship from Provi-
dence to New York, and John Edmonds from New York to Baltimore.

Fourteen volumes of scrapbooks documenting this organization's activ-
ities: one volume of the history of the Baltimore group, 1921-71; one
volume of the achievements of members, 1949-51; remaining scrapbooks,
'led by the branch historian, contain newspaper clippings about
members and their artwork and invitations to or announcements of various
art exhibits. Other records: copies of the branch magazines (the Pinion and
the Baltimore Owl); roster and by-laws, 1968-70; issues of the National
League's magazine (the Pen Women); National League financial statements,

arrests without proper warrant, negligent use of automobiles, abortions,
illegal aliens, bookmaking, homicide, workman's compensation; copies of
lectures by Judge Niles at conventions and college commencements;
published articles by Niles; copies of his charges to the grand jury and
lower court juries; histories of the grand jury and the pardon procedure;
information on the black lawyer in Maryland; a 1914 diary written by
Niles while in Europe as a Rhodes scholar; six loose-leaf volumes of
miscellaneous papers for his plan for the selection of Judges, Maryland
