based importation business: importation of mahogany, rum, silk, china-
ware, cotton, indigo, tea, rugs, and tobacco in the Mid-Atlantic region-
mostly in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Richmond, and New York; letters
from
Europe, England, and India; mercantile firm of Knox, Usher, and Mc-
Culloh, located in Baltimore, is a principal correspondent in the 1780s;
numerous references to medical training of Samuel McCulloh (1772-
1848). Other papers: letters from George B. McCulloh on his service
in the
United States Navy in the early 1820s, information of westward migration
with letters from Ohio, Virginia, and Kentucky, mostly from the Todd
