Records of the Federal Hill Male Sunday School, instituted October, 1818,
and moved, June 12, 1819, into the "first Sunday School room ever erected
in the United States" (destroyed by fire the next day). This volume has
scant accounts of morning and afternoon sessions from that time to 1827,
with notes on attendance, teachers, talks.

Letterbook, 1825-1839, of Thomas Ferguson, Baltimore merchant, with
copies of communications to correspondents in ports from Boston to New
Orleans. Letters show extensive dealings in tobacco, wheat, oil, and other
staple articles. Volume contains some holograph copies. Account book,
1841-1867, begun by Thomas Ferguson, and continued by William B [oyd]
Ferguson & Company, Union Mills, Baltimore, refiners of mustard, flour,
sugar, and cocoa. Book is entitled 'Cooperage Account," but contains nota-
tions of wages paid to workers.

more merchant. Vol. 1, 1861, deals with events leading up to the Civil War
and the occupation of Baltimore by Federal troops. Clippings describe
political and military events. Vol. 2, has a clipping of the "President's Proc-
lamation' on emancipation taken from the Boston Courier. The rest of the
material is chiefly from southern newspapers and includes letters from
General Wade Hampton to General Sherman on the destruction caused by
northern forces. The last letter is dated July, 1865.
