Do
you love history and want to serve your community?
There's
no better way to share your love of history than by volunteering
at the Maryland Historical Society!
Each
year, close to 200 volunteers, working in almost every institutional
division, make it possible for thousands of visitors to explore
the MdHS's collections, conduct research in the library, enjoy public
programs and the Museum Shop, and discover all that the MdHS has
to offer. Volunteers shape visitors' experiences of the MdHS while
they perform essential tasks and gain valuable skills and experiences
working among professionals.
Beyond
the benefits of a stimulating environment and the chance to work
side-by-side with professionals and volunteers with a shared love
of history, MdHS volunteers also receive a wide range of more tangible
benefits. These include opportunities to attend free classes and
lectures, participate in trips to historic sites around the state,
receive recognition at volunteer events and receptions, and enjoy
discounts at events and the Museum Shop.
Explore
the many areas in which the MdHS relies on the work of volunteers,
and know that the MdHS Volunteer Services Coordinator will work to
match each volunteer with the position to which they are best suited.
