The collection of photographs was separated from MS 1828 Jay Family papers donated by Mrs. Clarence H. Taliaferro, Mrs. Herman A. Hoblemann, Mrs. Frederick H. Henninghausen, Summer, 1970.

The collection contains one tintype and 8 cartes de visite including members of the Jay, Hood and Griffith family and a carte de visit of Edwin Booth.
