Biographical Note

Nelson Andersen (ca. 1888-1966) was born in Canandaigua, New York. Andersen married Helen Gildersleeve, who worked as a teacher. He worked for the Rockefeller Institute for twenty years as a technician before moving to Baltimore to work at City Hospitals. He retired in 1963. Andersen was interested in theater history, particularly Mississippi showboats, and acted in several productions with the Vagabond Theater. He died on October 3, 1966.
