Biographical

Solomon Schapiro & Sons was established in 1918. The Baltimore rag dealers eventually became leaders in the recycling industry. Brothers Bernard (Ben) and Joseph Schapiro operated the business after Solomon Schapiro retired, and were later joined by brother Daniel. The Shapiros were active leaders in their industry, community, and Jewish charitable, religious, and social institutions.

Scope and Content

The Bernard Shapiro Photograph Collection consists of nine photographs relating to the Shapiro brothers and their business.
