Postcard.  On one side it says "Lost Feb 7th" and the scenery is dark and hazy with the shambles of buidlings on the ground.  A sign that says "Henry Oppenheimer & Co. removed to 107--100-111 W. Fayette St." the addressee is Mrs. Carrie J. Cohen 54 Wentworth St. Charleston, S.C. On the back side it says "Found" with the scenery of a new Oppenheimer building build amungst the rubbles of buildings. "This elegant new warehouse equpped with all modern facilities, the product of which our Mr.  will be pleased to show you... Henry Oppenheimer & Co. Baltimore, MD"  Given the date Feb 7 and the scenery it correlates to the Great Baltimore Fire that destroyed most of downtown Balitmore.

This area was important to the Jonestown area from 1761-1879 and the site of the most prominent brewery.  In 1814, the brewery's malt house was used by Mary Pickersgill to sew the Star Spangled Banner.

Bumper Sticker that says "Nuke Irsay".  This was a popular bumper sticker in Baltimore because Robert Irsay (owner) o March 29, 1984 had the Baltimore Colts team moved to Indianapolis because he wanted a new stadium.  Irsay became the subject of much hatred.

Description of the "Court of Death" Painting

In this print is describing the orginial painting for the purpose of the audience.  This painting is an oil on canvas by Rembrandt Peale.  This picture toured the country, more than 32,000 people paid to see it and the tour earned $9,000 in its first 13 months.  The painting is over 300 square feet of canvas.

This agreement was between John Eager Howard and Alexander Yearly of Baltimore County.  Howard is giving Yearly permission to erect a temporary building for a store at the NE corner of Lexington St and Short Alley.  When the heirs of John Eager Howard want the property back they are allowed to do so.  Yearly will also pay rent to Howard.

This certificate belonged to William H. Brown a Sergeant of Company L of the 25th U.S. Regiment.  He enlisted March 6, 1898 and served 3 years.  He was discharged from the army because his term of enlistment expired.  He was a Dergeant born in Baltimore and when he enlisted was 33 1/2 years old.

Bureau of Pensions from the United States of America Dept of the Interior grants: 1st Pension Certificate George Hunt, a private in the regiment on the Eastern Shore of Maryland Volunteer Infantry.  His pension in 1909 was $15 per month to commence on March 22, 1909. 2nd Pension Certificate George Hunt, a private in the regiment on the Eastern Shore of Maryland Volunteer Infantry.  His pension in 1912 was $30 per month to commence on May 21, 1912.

This advertisement is for the Patapsco Female Institute located in Ellicott City, MD.  It housed 100 resident pupils and was considered a splendid establishment for young women.  Litho illustration of finishing school on the top of the advertistment.  This boarding school remained open until 1891.

This correspondence was written by Thos V and Dixon, architects.  The trustees had an advertisement for designs and plans for the hospital they wanted to erect.   The plans for this building are discussed within this document.  The architects for the Sheppard and Enoch Pratt hospital were Calvert Vaux and Thomas Dixon.

He spends his summers in Colorado and winters in Baltimore.
