How to Find Journals and Magazines
The
H. Furlong Baldwin Library subscribes to approximately 220 journals,
magazines, and newsletters, mostly relating to history and genealogy.
For many of the journals, the Library has subscribed since publication
began. In addition, over the years, the Library has subscribed
to more than 400 other periodicals.
Current
Issues
These
are listed in the Library
Catalog and are available in the Current Periodicals Reading
Room. To search for serials, include serial as a keyword or
as media type. To check for the last issue received, from
the results list, click first on the title of the serial in which
you are interested, then click on the Copies tab at the top of the
individual record.
Back
Issues
These
can be found in the stacks of the Rhodes Local and Family History
Reading Room. If the call number is CS71, F72 through F516, or MF,
you should be able to find it on the main floor of the Rhodes Reading
Room or in the Family History Hallway. Request other back
issues at the reference desk in the Rhodes Reading Room.
Indexes
to Periodicals
Many
periodicals have their own indexes. In addition, the Periodical
Source Index (PERSI) is available through HeritageQuest on the Library's
public computers. It indexes many genealogical and local history
journals to which the Library subscribes.
