A Stitch in Time: Quilts: Learn about a functional, everyday item that is not only an artistic expression but also a part of women’s history; includes books, slides and videos, sewing notions, quilt patterns and games and many images of quilts from different communities (Grades K-8) Cost: $85, includes return shipping
Maryland Indians: An investigation of the lives of Maryland’s Woodland Indians. Young students will love the "reader’s theatre" play about the natural world. Older students will become experts on Native American life, including ceremonies, foods, shelter, people and much more, by examining objects and learning from their peers. Use this trunk to teach about Native Americans in Maryland and reinforce reading & writing skills at the same time. All lessons correspond to state standards for social studies and for language arts. Teachers on the Eastern Shore may pick up and drop off the Growing Up in Maryland, A Stitch in Time: Quilts, and Tools of the Historian trunks from the Historical Society of Talbot County for the $40 fee.
