School's Out/ History is In: Cursive!
Practice your loops, swirls and basic strokes as we learn how to read historical documents from written by Marylanders just like us. Using chalk, ink, quills and paint, participants will be engaged in local history while learning or perfecting this lost art.

School's Out/History is In: Storytelling Traditions
Be mesmerized in the stories of Lindy and Jane, two 18th century women of Annapolis. Listen to their stories of how they got their names and their favorite folktales. Presented by living history interpreter Scotti Preston, participants will be immersed into the traditions of storytelling.
This program results in fulfilling the “Scribe” badge for Girl Scouts!

Votes for Women!
Join a Women's Suffrage March! Create your own "Votes for Women" sash and write a speech advocating for a woman's right to vote. Learn about some of the heroines of the movement, including women that played a major role right here in Maryland. What would it be like to be a girl at this time? How would you feel not be able to vote on issues that were important to you? This program results in the "Playing the Past" badge!
$10 per scout/free for adults

Girl Scouts On the Go! programs are two hours in length and are available by request. Required two week advanced scheduling. Minimum groups of 8.

In Olden Times: Then and Now
Look at children's lives and experiences in the past! Using artifacts and costumes, scouts will explore work activities, examine playtime and family life and compare a day at school in the late 1800s with their classroom today. Play games, read a diary from a schoolgirl in the 1890s and see objects from a schoolroom. Maryland Historical Society patch available in the museum store for $2.00 each. Fullfills Playing the Past badge!
Colonial Maryland
Scouts will explore what Maryland was like before the colonists arrived in 1634, why colonists risked everything to come to the Province of Maryland and their relationship with the native Algonquian. Through the use of primary sources, scouts will examine typical objects colonists needed to bring to the New World and have the opportunity to pack their own trunk. Scouts will also learn about colonial candlemaking and make their own colonial candles to take home! Maryland Historical Society patch available for $2.00 each. Helps to fullfill activities for the Maryland Heritage Patch!
Created Equal
Trace the strides that African Americans made in achieving equal rights and treatment from the Colonial Period to the present. Maryland Historical Society patch available for $2.00 each.
