Girl Scouts: Trashion Fashion with SewSquad

Saturday, November 9, 10 AM-12:30 PM | $10/scout; FREE/adults

We are celebrating the opening of our newest exhibition, Spectrum of Fashion with a unique Girl Scout event! Join SEWSQUAD as we turn your closet cast-offs into this season’s must-have accessories. Bring your old button downs to unwanted jeans to the program. Everything you need to create your soon-to-be-favorite fashion item is just waiting to be discovered with a little help from SEWSQUAD experts. Trashion Fashion invites Girl Scouts of all levels to use their creativity and teamwork. Troops are required to bring their own used clothing items brought in by your individual troop. Prizes will be given to 3rd, 2nd and 1st place troops.

School is Out, History is In: Cursive! 

 Monday, January 20, 10 AM-2 PM | FREE admission and program

Practice your loops, swirls and basic strokes as we learn how to read historical documents from written by Marylanders just like us. Using chalk, ink, quills and paint, participants will be engaged in local history while learning or perfecting this lost art.

School is Out, History is In: Sewing! 

Monday, February 17, 10 AM-2 PM | FREE admission and program

Gather around our sewing table and practice this traditional skill. Using the historic and contemporary quilts on display in our exhibition, Hometown Girl, participants will stitch their way through the basics of applique and other types of sewing possibilities.

Votes for Women!

Sunday, March 9, 2020 10-12:30p.m.

$10 per scout/free for adults

Join a Women's Suffrage March! Create your own "Votes for Women" sash and write a speech advocating for a woman's right to vote. Learn about some of the heroines of the movement, including women that played a major role right here in Maryland. What would it be like to be a girl at this time? How would you feel not be able to vote on issues that were important to you? This program results in the "Playing the Past" badge!
