 Would you like your adult or senior group to experience the museum without the hassle of travel?  Through our distance learning studio, Timeline Studio, we are able to bring the historical society directly to you! Using state of the art video conferencing equipment, Timeline Studio offers live interactive programs on topics in United States history for adult audiences. These programs offer lifelong learners the opportunity to explore and experience the Historical Society’s collection from the comfort of their own residence.

 

 

 

Our Virtual Visits are easy to schedule and require minimal technology. All you need is a basic computer and web camera.  Through the use of green screen technology, document cameras, and audio and video clips, our distance learning programs offer lifelong learners a unique and dynamic experience they are sure to enjoy!

Maryland In Conflict

When we think of “Maryland in Conflict,” we immediately think of the valiant defense of Fort McHenry that spawned our National Anthem or the devastating carnage during the Battle of Antietam.  But “conflict” extends far beyond military engagements into our everyday lives.  Explore the diverse museum and library holdings of the Maryland Historical Society as we delve into Maryland’s important roles not only in wartime but also in some of America’s most defining social conflicts such as the Civil Rights Movement, labor activism, and struggles over religion.

Art & Music in Maryland

What is “American Art”?  Join us as we explore the highlights of our collections and celebrate Maryland’s rich contributions to American cultural arts!  Marylanders, both famous and unknown, have played an integral part in defining the essence of American art. From the renowned works of Charles Wilson Peale to the iconic sound of Eubie Blake, visitors will travel back in time as we glimpse the United States through the artist’s eye.

America in Miniature

Maryland is often referred to by promoters as “America in Miniature,” but how can such a tiny state truly reflect the major themes of American History?  Come with us as we investigate the vast collections of the Maryland Historical Society to answer this question.  Along the way we will discover many stories of Maryland’s people and places spanning from the struggles of the Maryland colony’s founders to the social issues of the mid-20th century.

The Maryland Historical Society can rent you a video conferencing equipment set and ship it to your location. Each set includes a web camera, speakerphone, tripod for the camera, extension cords, and directions.
